Build 76. Remaining IVA Work

To finish the build I went through the IVA guide to ensure I've covered all bases. I'm actually getting Caterham Silverstone to present the car for me after the PBC so I'm not too worried about missing anything, however I'd still like to make it as complete as I can.

On running through the booklet, I have missed the following:

  • Trim to place on the passenger unused steering column hole (above the fusebox).
  • Scuttle Trim
  • Various nuts and bolt covers:
    • I added 4 covers to the heater bolts and dabbed silicone on them to hold them in place
    • I added 2 covers to the nuts above the heater one on each side
    • I added as manay covers as I could to the front suspension however I didn't seem to have enough to finish the job on the steering arm. I'll raise this on the PBC
    • I used the two left over rubber grommets (the same that were used on the ARB) to wrap around the upper wishbone adjustment part.
  • Dot4 Brake warning cover information is missing from my cylinder head (I can only assume this was lost when bleeding the brakes as it was there in my earlier photos!)
  • Puncture kit needed securing in the boot
  • Exhaust nut cover
  • Soft trim on underside of bonnet (I used 12mm trim, this is to protect the bonnet from rubbing on the chassis)

The scuttle trim was fairly easy to add. In fact once you realise the trim is just lots of individual metal staples bound by rubber, it is easy to cut it to length, pull out some pins, and then shape the end to taper to the chassis.

At the PBC, Caterham moved the puncture repair and cable tied it to the rear of the boot (just inside)
